The Harmony Lake Preservation Association, Inc. (HLPA) was started by the late Jim Asher. HLPA is a KY 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization which came into existence in 2001 expressly for the preservation and conservation of Harmony Lake and the environment surrounding the lake. The purpose of the organization is to preserve and protect the lake and surrounding area and to educate/inform citizens and stakeholders on matters that may impact our area.
The lake is part of a USGS designated watershed area. Acres of land in Northern Oldham County flow down through this watershed area, held in Harmony Lake acting as a reservoir. On the downstream side of Harmony Lake dam is Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve, Settlers Point and Trials End subdivisions. The lake is approximately 10 acres and is possibly up to 50’ deep in some area. It supports a variety of wildlife that live in and around the lake and from Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve.
